Pfizer Inc. has announced that it has entered into an agreement with, an innovation-led think tank that is focused on creating a future with the world’s largest pharmaceutical company.
The agreement, which will provide Pfizer with exclusive rights to develop and market its own generic drug Viagra in the US and Europe, will involve Pfizer acquiring U. S. partner GlaxoSmithKline Plc in the US, Europe, Japan, Korea and other countries, and acquiring Pfizer’s in the UK and Europe. Pfizer’s patent on the drug expires in 2024. Pfizer and GlaxoSmithKline are interested in acquiring the rights to the drug in the UK and EU. The agreement is the third agreement Pfizer has entered into with GlaxoSmithKline to commercialize Viagra in the US, in the UK and Europe.
